An owner and operator of more than 400 retail centers across the country, Brixmor is connecting communities with sustainable projects. In fact, environmental responsibility is one of the cornerstones of Brixmor’s business model, targeting a reduction in energy and water usage across the board.

By individually sub-metering each space for water, Champion’s services have contributed to Brixmor’s commitment to onsite sustainability.

Brixmor is now able to monitor tenants’ usage, recover utility costs and receive equipment performance updates. And through Champion’s billing and reporting services, tenants receive water bills, and manager receives usage and cost recovery reports.

Richmond’s largest not-for-profit community development corporation, BHC has revitalized several historic communities and developed new ones, as well, including The Goodwyn at Union Hill.

BHC broke ground on The Goodwyn at Union Hill on May 12, 2017. Compromised of 52 new units, BHC built high-quality apartment homes for working families in the historic Union Hill neighborhood.

Recognizing the value in having the development sub-metered for water, BHC contacted Champion in the summer of 2018. Together they agreed to equip the property with a system that could provide data transparency, meter functionality and customizable reporting. As one of Champion’s original customers, Pembroke Commercial Realty turned to Champion for turnkey sub-metering services. Champion’s construction and project management team installed a sub-metering technology to read and recapture the water usage consumed in each unit. And through a user-friendly yet sophisticated automated reading system, Champion’s billing team is able to digitally download the meter reads and calculate usage in order to produce monthly bills and reports. The customizable reports show recaptured usage, cost recovery, equipment performance and usage anomalies.

And with undeveloped coastlines, rugged terrain and vibrantly lush habitat as its backdrop, the shopping center is just another one of Hendricks’ impressive acquisitions.

As an investor, developer and manager of commercial real estate, Hendricks’ properties span across the United States. It prides itself on specializing in outside-the-box solutions to challenging real estate needs.

Hendricks first reached out to Champion during the summer of 2018, when it was in need of recapturing multiple points of electric usage at a multi-tenant commercial center in Colorado.
