Saving Energy Through MeteringAccording to a recent article published by Talk Politics & Business, households that pay their energy bills via channels such as their rent are less likely to be energy efficient.

Electricity is used in virtually every home, but when the cost is grouped with rent or other fees, there is no real incentive to neither conserve energy use nor install energy-efficient appliances.

Yes, households that pay indirectly for their energy use is on the decline, but it still exists. According to data extracted from the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) about 11 percent of households pay their electric, natural gas, propane or fuel oil through their rent or third parties such as housing authorities.
