Utility Sub-Metering

Many of you either have sub-metering systems in place, have considered the possibility of sub-metering your property, or at the very least have heard the word “sub-metering” be tossed around as the latest energy management solution. 
And even though this may be the case, there are still many who don’t understand what the term really means…

Simply put, it refers to the individual metering of utilities in a multi-tenant building, and sub-meters are the physical metering devices that monitor utilities, such as water/sewer, gas and electric. The individual meters measure a unit’s usage and in turn the resident is billed accordingly.
